April 2007
Greetings Gentle Reader!
Happy Springtime! And Happy 7th Birthday ParaResearchers Of Ontario! Also Happy 1 year birthday to The Paranormal Blog!
I am very excited to be writing this annual report to you our readers as we have had a lot of very positive things happen over the course of the past
year, and a lot more good stuff coming up in our very near future!
Firstly I would like to welcome aboard Sarah Due who will be working closely with both Ian Harper and myself as a UFO investigator. From the very
beginning Sarah impressed me with her investigative, and research skills, and is already a valued asset of our team! Sarah will be following up on UFO reports in the Hamilton, and Niagara regions.
We would also like to take this opportunity to
introduce you to Chris Laursen who has been appointed our media liaison. Chris brings a wealth of experience and professionalism to this often demanding role. His bio set for our official press release is as follows:
A historian and
writer, Chris Laursen is currently planning graduate work looking at how people have related to the paranormal over the centuries. He joined PSICAN in August 2006 and has been actively involved as an investigator and weekly contributor to Sue Darroch and Matthew Didier's Paranormal Blog.
He brings to our groups 18 years of work in the media. He works with the a non-profit organization, the North American Broadcasters Association, which represents TV and radio
interests in technological standards and protecting broadcasters' rights globally. Before moving to Toronto in 2004, he was the Program Director at CKCU Radio at Carleton University in Ottawa, where he created and produced a
radio comedy series, Remote Planet, currently in its eighth season. He has also produced some material for CBC Radio, was the publicist for the Ottawa Fringe Theatre Festival, and was a newspaper reporter in small town British
Columbia. It all began when listening to late night CBC Radio programming inspired Chris to publish an underground music and fiction 'zine as a teenager from his rural Alberta bedroom. The 'zine had contributors and readers
from around the world.
Chris recently completed his B.A. History from Carleton and will commence full-time work on an M.A. this fall. He plans to be a university professor researching and writing about the outer margins
of social history.
All paranormal media inquiries, and requests are to be handled by Chris effective immediately.
And finally we would like to announce the appointment of two new Ontario spirit mediums to act as consultants to our group. Lynn Tucker, and Nancy Eckert have decades of experience, Lynn through a pastorship with the Spiritualist Church of Canada, and as a consultant on exorcism to the Anglican Church Of Canada. Welcome aboard ladies!!!
We are currently looking for a new Ontario Director Of Cryptozoology. This is a strictly a non-paying volunteer position. You must have a keen interest in the topics we cover and a good working knowledge of them, be willing to answer email,
and possibly follow-up on reports on-site at your own expense. Webmastering skills are not necessary, but a strong desire to write up reports, and/or articles for the website is necessary. We are based in Ontario so it would be
favorable if you are as well. If interested please contact Sue Darroch, and lets talk ... :)
Also new this year is the launching of our newest sister site ParaResearchers Of Quebec! Under the Directorship of Stuart Finlay it is as far aswe know the first bilingual French/English paranormal website in Canada! Stu brings us reports of UFOs, Ghosts, Hauntings, and Cryptozoology from around La Belle Province!
In other exciting news our sister site the TGHRS or The Toronto Ghosts & Hauntings Research Society is one of the TOP 700,000 websites IN THE WORLD (meaning we're in the TOP six per-cent of ALL websites EVERYWHERE!) and climbing according to Alexa Rankings and the NUMBER ONE website for ghosts and hauntings in Canada!
CONGRATULATIONS TGHRS!!!!!
