Private Residence - Pickering Ontario

Mr. And Mrs. J. reside in a clean, four bedroom, semi-detached home in a middle-class neighbourhood. They have owned their home for over two decades and are well known and liked within the community. They are both retirees with grown children. The basement area of their home is rented out to their nephew whom is frequently out of town as required by his employment.

Both Mr. and Mrs. J are at a loss to explain the recent events that have occurred within their beloved house. These events include strange sounds, particularly unaccountable footsteps, the disappearance/reappearance of items, cold spots, covers being pulled off their bed or rising up whilst the couple were still fully awake and what they describe as a heavy mirror being lifted off of their dresser and dropped to the floor by “unseen hands.” Mrs J. also reports that she has awoken to feelings of being “unable to move” on two occasions. The inability to move while in a conscious state can be attributed to ‘sleep paralysis’ which is a not too uncommon sleep disorder. However, we feel it is important to mention here in light of the other reported events.

These possible paranormal experiences are recent and ongoing. There is no history of these types of phenomena occurring previously nor is there a known violent or tragic history associated with this particular dwelling, which would suggest a more typical historical haunting. Mr. and Mrs. J believe that the above occurrences are in fact the result of ghostly activity, but have no ideas as to whom or what may in fact be haunting their home.

The events described by the couple are suggestive of poltergeist phenomena. This type of phenomena is usually associated with a teen or young person, however all occupants of this residence are adults with no apparent emotional issues. Most activity seems to be isolated to the master bedroom with only a few incidences appearing to be located in other areas of the home.

I have personally interviewed Mr. and Mrs. J and examined the mirror. It is 4ftx6ft and fairly heavy. The mirror which has rested on the dresser for almost the entire duration of this couple’s residence in the house is not bolted to the wall. However, it is held in place by non-skid pads and had apparently not moved since originally being placed there. Mrs. J states she was reading in bed when she observed the mirror lift up, turn on it’s side and drop to the floor. Screaming out for her husband, he arrived to find the mirror on the floor fully intact. What is peculiar is the fact that they claim nothing on the dresser was disturbed! Mrs. J has a collection of glass perfume bottles, pictures, etc, which logically should have been knocked over by the mirror had it simply fallen by natural means. No tremors even slight ones were recorded for the date/area in question.

Mr. and Mrs. J are understandably distressed by these occurrences and hope that whatever the cause these events will cease as suddenly and inexplicably as they appear to have begun.

We shall remain in contact with them and update this page if necessary.
