"Aug 18, 2013...approx 1:03 a:m...between Orillia Ontario and Cumberland Beach, Ontario.  My son and I were taking a taxi from Orillia to our home in Cumberland Beach.  We noticed an orange light over Lake Couchiching.  The closest local landmark is Big Chief Island. This is a large lake and has no light source...we've driven past here thousands of times and have never seen anything other than planes perhaps at night. This orange light was closer and larger than a star which initially was what caught our attention and appeared to have a noticeable "glow" that emanated from it.  It was a short 3 minute drive from when we first spotted it to where we arrived home and we kept our eyes on it as we drove home. We were very excited in the taxi and we asked the taxi driver what he thought it was.  He appeared to be confused when we asked him what he thought it could be. He said it probably a tower but there aren't any...I don't think he wanted to talk about it. As we approached our home and turned right off Hwy 11 at Grand Tamarack, the light which appeared to be stationery in the sky suddenly appeared to turn left and then just disappeared.  There are no towers in the water, we checked and there were no fireworks in the area.  We were very animated by what we had seen.  I woke my wife up and told her what we'd seen.  She told me to draw what I saw as I do artwork as a hobby. I've checked to see if anyone else has reported seeing anything similar last night but I can't find anything yet."

In further correspondence:

First of all...when I say UFO...it doesn't mean it was a Spaceship as most people tend to think of, or the first thing that comes to mind. What my son and I saw that night was more like a probe - an Orange light almost like a Street light, but Orange and was fixed in one spot. Driving that area many times at night... you get use to certain landmarks or Towers, lights ect. That is why it caught my attention....there are no Towers or lights that high all along that shoreline. The closest T.V or Radio Towers are closer to Orillia or across the Lake over by Casino Rama. We were in a Cab coming back from Orillia that night, even the Cab driver saw it but I don't think he knows the area that well...as he tried to say it was a Tower. 1. there are no Towers there... 2. Towers usually have red or white flashing lights for planes to see them.

Anyway, this light or Probe was well above the treeline...which I could see as the Moon was out that night. So from the Hwy. (in the cab) I would say it was at least 300 ft. high. (edited for privacy) This light had to be right over Lake Couchiching. We woke my wife up...who was sleeping and told her about it. Even she says... I know you guys wouldn't just come in and wake me up for nothing. My wife went to work (edited for privacy) and told a couple of the girls in the office about it. One of the girl's - said...her son and daughter in law have seen them before too. They said...some times you see 2 of them come down and they call them "Floaters". They just don't talk about it...as people might think their crazy.
