Dundas ON

December 8th 12: 40 am

My husband who works in stoney creek, came home and woke me up to show me something outside. To me, he appeared excited and curious. I noticed this as he is usually not fazed by much. He shut all the lights off as i left some on for him when he got home. The house was completely dark. I saw our usual panoramic view of the city of Hamilton (which includes the bay - far off, stelco, mcmaster u and the ancaster hill). What was new was the hundreds (i did not count them all, but there were very very many) of lights, straight up into the air, white and unmoving. They were all the same width, length. They all stopped at the same point in the sky. Where they stopped, the night was clear, and there were no stars above the lights to see. On the left side of our view, after the last light column, I could see the big dipper.

During this time, I noticed 3 planes (we live near the Hamilton airport, this is not unusual to see planes) flying. The time would be around 1am. The planes were not all together, but one after the other. They did not seem "together."

My husband found our camera and tried to take pics, but nothing showed up on the camera. Normally there is a lot of smog and smoke from the steel plant, there was this night as well, as the plant was still on.

The night was generally really clear, all but a few small wispy clouds. We watched these lights until they were gone, which I noticed at about 120am. I awoke several times throughout the night to check the view and the sky was cloudy.

From the time I fist saw these lights, I was amazed. I still am. I am literally dumbfounded that nobody else reported seeing them. I was not afraid, I was really curious and amazed!

I could not describe what I thought the lights were. I had/have absolutely no idea. They could not have been search lights as they were not moving. That is all and as close as I could compare anything to.

I lost sight of the lights as they faded away and stopped at about 120am. I can not give you an exact moment but I was staring at them and then just seemed to dissipate and then they were gone.

The next morning I made various inquiries to people/places.

Our thanks to the witness for sharing this report with us and some photos of the general area. Phone calls to the local airport and planetarium produced inconclusive results.
