25minutes east of sudbury, ontario, past the town of Wahnapitae on Dryden rd.one of my favorite spots for viewing the sky with telescope. open field allows for better viewing. Saturns rings were the focus that evening. sporadic clouds,light wind from the west.Parked car to the northern side of the dirt road facing west.open field on southern side of road for 500metres set up telescope in front of car. arrived there around 9:20. viewing through telescope most of the time only to be stopped once in awhile by a cloud. it was during one of these cloud intermissions that i saw a bright light out of the corner of my right eye directly to the south.I asked"what's that" and the person with me saw it too. the very bright light was on the ground,stationary for a few seconds.I first said"someone must be hiking' through the bush with one of those 1,000,000 candle searchlights,that's friggin' bright." a bluish-white light that flickered amidst the trees past the field on ground level. it then elevated half the height of the birch trees and remained stationary for a few seconds then moved westward very slowly flickering in the trees for a distance of 30 metres. (when it elevated i was confused at what i was seeing since it was dark i had no depth perception, only two dimensional.i then said "can't be someone walking,maybe it's a car on the sideroad behind the trees". my partner agreed rationalizing the only explanation for the elevation.)it once again was stationary at the 30 metre mark for a few seconds then moved slowly eastward 60 metres,then was stationary again for a few more seconds.it went westward 30 metres back to the same place where it first elevated, then rose to the point just above the horizon.(at this point i,as well as my friend,knew we were seeing something beyond our comprehension because nothing explained its last maneuver and i started to become afraid)once it cleared the treeline i could see that it was pulsing at a cycle every two seconds.once again it moved westward,skimming the horizon 50-60 metres,stationary again,on the same elevation moved eastward 100-120 metres,stationary for a few seconds more.westward at the same elevation50-60 metres back to the same point where it initially elevated,stationary briefly.(up to this point all the maneuvers were at a very slow speed)it is directly south of me and starts moving n-e direction slowly at first. i realize this because of light and shadows in the trees giving me something to give me depth.it is still skimming the trees as it clears them and passes over an abandoned barn lighting it brightly as it passes over leaving shadows of the barn in the field close to it(at this point my mind is struggling at what i am seeing and my knees almost buckle. not so much of physical safety, but how this was affecting my belief system)as it passes the barn it begins to accelerate over the driveway and fences casting shadows.once it passes over dryden rd.,it heads e-n-e,1/2 horizon at incredible speed directly from my line of sight as if was watching "warp" footage of a sci-fi.
