Brantford ON

May 30th 1970

While watching the eclipse of the moon I noticed a light far out in the heavens that was quite larger and brighter then the other stars that were visable at the time. I have seen aircraft with the sun shining on them and it was not this situation at all. the shape of the light was perfectly round and seemed like it was coming straight down towards earth. After watching it's approach for about an half hour I went in the house for what I would say was another half hour to do some things . The unusualness of this light that was coming from from the heavens was still on my mind so as soon as I was finished doing what I had to do I went back outside. I no sooner got out the door and onto the lawn when two little old ladies that were standing on the corner, waiting for a bus, reported to me ."Look at the helicopter over your head!" I looked up and saw this disk shaped object hovering , maybe 50 feet over my head. I said to the ladies that I didn't think It was a helicopter because there was no absolutly no noise There were lights all around the perimeter that seem to alternate red, green and white. I'm sure if I picked up a stone and threw it I could have hit it. The u.f.o. stayed still for close to five minutes without making a sound then slowly turn as if on an axis and moved away at a leisurely pace. The reason for writting this letter is to find out if anybody else has seen the direction from which these obects come from. Although it has been many years since this incidence has occured I still can walk out and point to the exact position and path that the object came from in the heavens.

Update to above report: Received Nov. 2005

While living in Brantford around that time I had an encounter while driving home along near the Chapel of the Mohawks at about midnight.

I pulled over because I believed I was being stopped by the police, although I had not noticed any other lights behind me, all of a sudden there were flashing white and red lights right behind me bright enough to light up the interior of the vehicle. I assumed a police cruiser was stopping me.

After I pulled over (it is a deserted stretch of road) The lights seemed to go out yet the flashing effect was still evident around me. I exited the vehicle and was amazed to see a "conventional UFO" shaped disk object with a bubble top right above me and not very high ( I am sure I could have hit it with a rock).

I estimate it to be about 30' in diameter and it had rotating white, red and green lights "travelling" counter clockwise around the perimeter. It looked very wobbly although stationary. For some reason I was not afraid of it and stared at it for several minutes, then I did feel apprehensive so jumped back in the vehicle and sped for home about two minutes away.

The object followed and took station above our home. I rushed up stairs to the bedroom and looked out the window at it. It travelled very slowly and gradually drifted off and out of sight.

I am sure the Brantford Expositor printed a story about a city worker who was buzzed by it while he was working a piece of city equipment, also there was a story of residents in an apartment complex who called the authorities because the object was over the complex and the TV signals were being jammed. If I remember they reported that the police and fire department attended the complaint.

I did see the object on the next two consecutive nights after while driving along hwy 2/52 from Ancaster to Brantford, it travelled parallel to the highway at about 50 mph.

I recollect the article cited both incidents I have noted although they may have been different articles in the same time frame.

In particular the city worker was apparently operating a piece of equipment in the early morning hours, it had a yellow flashing light on it. If memory serves, the same object as I encountered earlier in the morning "buzzed" his vehicle and caused him to abandon it in favour of being in it. His description of the object was very close to mine and happened later on the same date.

It is the date that would be validated by the Expositor articles (I am not sure at all of the date from memory although I lived in Brantford from 1966 until 1977). In the case of the apartment complex episode, I believe the story in the Expositor appeared the same week as the "city" worker incident.

Our thanks to the witness for sharing the above. We have contacted the Brantford Expositor twice in regards to archived issues and have to date received no response from them.
