The witness writes:

"In 1976 in Niagara on the Lake my husband and I and small child were flagged down by a couple looking over lake Ontario by the water's edge. We looked up to see a bright light too big to be a star. Moments later a smaller light appeared and in a half square formation disappeared into the larger one. Then the whole thing took off and was gone in a second. Many people had come to the end of our street during the week because of talks of sightings and had given up. We just happened bye. The four of us were the only witnesses that night and no one we knew had seen anything earlier in the week. We never saw that couple again. My husband and I spoke of it but it did not seem to be taken seriously by others we knew so we just gave it up. My husband has since passed away but the image still comes to my mind and the feeling that the four of us witnessed something profound stays with me. I can't remember the month but it was cold and it was in 1976. Maybe late winter or early spring. Has anyone conveyed the saw anything in that area in 1976 around that time?"

In further correspondence the witness relates:

"My daughter does remember; she remembers two lights and one moving in a square or partial square pattern and joining the other light and then taking off. She does not remember them being different in size. She was not yet five years old but a very visual child and is today a visual artist. She does not remember if there was snow on the ground. We lived in the cottage area on Shakespeare Street so the site was at the bottom of the street at the water."
