The following report was sent into us earlier this month, but it does corroborate three similar reports we have received through the years.

"I used to work for the Kempenfelt Conference Centre in Innisfil, Ontario. Located right on the water, there is a building there called the Mardon Lodge. There have been many reports of ghosts appearing there over the years. These reports were all made by people staying there for business conferences, people who have never met each other. The Lodge used to be owned by Donald Hogarth, whose wife drew up the blueprint plans for the building. It's really quite beautiful, but there is something overly spooky about it.

One man who was sleeping in one of the rooms woke in the middle of the night and felt someone sitting on the end of his bed, although he could see no one. He immediately called the front desk and asked to be put in another room right away as he was scared and could not spend another moment in that room. It got so bad that at one point, the general manager of the conference centre called in a psychic to see if they couldn't clear the spirits out.

There is a distinct creepy feeling in some of the rooms and there are often strange cold spots throughout the building. It's a really interesting place with a lot of history.

Our thanks to the former staff member who shared this with us.

So who or what may be haunting the Mardon Lodge? Other guests have said it's a lady who comes down the staircase and a man who hovers above the beds while guests are sleeping in a specific room. Since we have not heard any recent reports perhaps the psychic laid to rest any restless spirits that may have been there.

Our thanks again to all who have written in to us about the conference centre, and surrounding area. One of our readers writes in with the following:

"We are staying at the Kempenfelt Conference centre in Innisfill, ON Mardon Lodge.  We have stayed one night and we woke up talking about our night and experience.  One of the ladies awoke in the middle of the night and saw the ghost at the end of the bed, another lady woke every hour on the hour at the same minute and felt like something woke her each time.  I myself was brushing my teeth at around 715 AM and I saw the ghost go by my bed. Later in the evening we were researching the architect of the building and came across your website on this same ghost and spoke how there was a person brought in to try and remove the spirit.  You haven't heard any stories lately and thought that he might have left.  He hasn't...I hope you find this interesting.  We are still here for 4 more nights and will let you know if there are more sightings."

Our thanks to the witness for sharing the above information.

A reader writes in:

"I was staying in the Lodge last year and I was in the second last room on the west wing of the building (corner room).  I was awoken in the night from a sound sleep not from a dream but from someone violently banging the end of the bed.  I opened my eyes, turned on the light and there was no one there.  I could feel the distinct presence of someone and couldn't shake the feeling they were trying to wake me up, no idea why.  I had this bad feeling in the pit of my stomach and though I am not familiar with ghosts or sightings, I knew that's what it was.

I remember seeing a show on tv that told you to firmly ask the ghost to leave so I did.  I don't know if they did or not, but I couldn't go back to sleep.  My conference was over the next day so I went home and didn't tell anyone.  I didn't want to freak anyone out at the conference nor did I want to seem like I was losing my mind, lol.
